Dr. Ryan Baird is a double bass performer and educator in Los Angeles. Ryan earned bass performance degrees under the tutelage of Dr. Sandor Ostlund at Baylor University and David Allen Moore at the University of Southern California. Combining his love for bass, arts leadership, and historical performance, Ryan earned a doctorate (DMA) in bass performance from USC in 2019. Ryan is a member of the Santa Barbara Symphony, is principal bass in the Downey Symphony, and is a core member of Delirium Musicum Chamber Ensemble, which recently released its debut album ‘Seasons’ with Warner Classics. Ryan has played with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Phoenix Symphony, the Fort Worth Symphony, the Santa Barbara Opera, and Musica Angelica Baroque Orchestra, as well as many other orchestras, recordings, and chamber music programs in Southern California. Ryan teaches bass at the Colburn Community School (CSPA), Youth Orchestra Los Angeles (YOLA), and Idyllwild Arts Summer Orchestra programs.
