Andrés Martín began his musical training in his native city of Buenos Aires, Argentina, under the guidance of Ciro Buono, his teacher and mentor for 9 years. He took several private lessons with other great bassists like Pastor Mora, Hans Roelofsen, Jeff Bradetich, Mark Dresser, and Jeremy Kurtz.  As a performer, he has performed in  the major venues of Argentina, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Brasil, Mexico, England, Germany, Dennmark, and the United States. Since his arrival to Mexico, Andrés is one of the most demanded artists in Baja California,  performing over 120 times every year and working with a very high number of private students. Currently he is the principal bass of the Baja California’s Orchestra (since 2002), and the bassist/composer/arranger of his own tango quartet “Cuatro para Tango” which he founded in 2004. After many years of collaboration and hard work with his bass students, he founded “Contrabajos de Baja California A.C. ” which is a non-profit cultural organization devoted to the development and promotion of the double bass and double bass education all over the state.  Among the many activities he does with Contrabajos de Baja California A.C. it is important to mention the “Encuentro Latinoamericano de Contrabajos” (Latin American Bass Camp), an educational week devoted to double bass, that joins around 40 bass players from all over Mexico and features world class double bassists like Bertram Turetzky, Volkan Orhon, Mark Dresser, Catalin Rotaru, Diana Gannett, Simón García, and more. He keeps a very active schedule as a composer and arranger. His works had been awarded and very often recorded and performed by renowned soloists, ensembles, and orchestras in Mexico, Argentina, Germany, Colombia, Costa Rica, Denmark, Italy, England, Spain , Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, and United States.  For more information visit www.andresmartin.net
